Hi, this is Nick Freidus, and welcome back to Making the Argument. Today, we have a special

0:04.1

by-request episode. We want to think Brianna Joe for on our community chat. So let me lay it out

0:10.6

this way. Once upon a time, there was a young woman. And this young woman was raised on a healthy

0:18.1

diet of fourth wave feminism. Right. Everyone in her life, from her parents to

0:23.6

her teachers, her friends, the artists that she appreciated and respected and listened to and watched

0:29.2

and read all reinforced the ideas and philosophies around feminism, wokeism, youivism, you name it.

0:38.7

She grew up completely immersed in it to the point where it just felt like reality, like

0:44.3

this was just the way the world worked.

0:46.6

And as such, she dutifully applied the principles involved throughout every aspect of her

0:51.9

life with respect to what she thought, what she did, the occupations that she looked for, the education that she sought out, the entertainment she was interested in was all rooted in this idea and this philosophy.

1:03.7

And over time, she started to see problems with it. Settle at first, but it started to expand. In fact, the more that she started to implement

1:13.4

these philosophies, the more she realized that it didn't bring her any sense of purpose or meaning

1:20.3

or peace. Now, as she started to question it, as she started to open herself up to new ideas, like at first, it was this sense, it was this sense of betrayal, almost as if she was turning her back on everything that she believed in, everything that she was committed to just by entertaining the idea that something else could be right.

1:41.7

And so she was very careful in the way that she did it. She would listen to

1:45.1

something every once in a while, maybe hear a different point of view or just take the time to try

1:50.6

to understand what somebody else was saying without prejudging what their intentions were.

1:57.8

And slowly over time, she started to think that, that okay maybe there's some points here maybe

2:03.9

there's some points right she's not giving up on what she believes but maybe there's a kernel of

2:08.5

truth into the other perspective of the other side of this story which at this point is a massive

2:14.3

shift in her worldview and as she continues to go down this road,

2:19.9

at some point she says, okay,

2:23.4

maybe they have a point, or maybe,
