In the summer of 1962, a famous Swiss theologian named Carl Bart visited the United States for the first time and the only time.

And while he was here, he did a tour, much celebrated.

He was on the cover of Time magazine,

and he was doing a Q&A in Chicago

when another Carl, he's a guy named Carl Henry, he's also a theologian,

he was the editor of Christianity today, and during that Q&A, Carl Henry stood up,

announced himself of Carl Henry today.

And he asked a question about the factuality,

historical factuality of the resurrection of Jesus.

And apparently Carl Barr didn't like the question and kind of got a little upset.

And he pointed at Carl Henry,

he said, did you say Christianity today

or Christianity yesterday.

And the room was full of mainline non-evangelical professors and clergy

and so they all had a good chuckle.

But Carl Henry, undaunted, waited for his moment,

and when the laughter died down,

he said, in the words of Hebrew 13-8,

yesterday, today and forever, sir.
