| 0:00.0 | Good morning and welcome to the 5 a.m. Miracle, episode number 605. How to master any new topic in six months, revisiting the EVE ratio. |
| 0:14.5 | I am Jeff Sanders, and you have reached the podcast that is dedicated to dominating your day before breakfast. |
| 0:21.6 | I am a keynote speaker and corporate trainer, and to learn more about that, head over to |
| 0:26.6 | jeffsanders.com slash speaking. |
| 0:29.6 | Now in the episode this week, I'll break down the EVE ratio, which stands for entertainment versus education. |
| 0:42.3 | We'll also dig into how you are so close to your next breakthrough, and of course, |
| 0:46.2 | how to master any new topic in six months or less. |
| 0:47.5 | Let's dig right in. Thank you. So next to me on my desk right now, I have a stack of books. |
| 1:05.4 | And if you've seen my house in the last, I don't know, 10, 12, 15 years, what you have seen is a stack of books that |

| 1:18.6 | purge as many as I possibly can because I'm in this constant cycle of personal growth. |
| 1:24.5 | And I want to make sure that the books that are around me are books that |
| 1:28.0 | matter. They are books that speak to who I am, where I am, and most importantly, where I am |
| 1:34.8 | next. And so if you look at my current collection of books, I have purged all of the ones that no |
| 1:41.4 | longer appeal to me in terms of my season of growth I am moving myself |
| 1:45.6 | into, and the ones that are front and center reflect my current focus. And the stack of books |
| 1:52.2 | that I brought with me today on my desk are all related to one particular topic. In this case, |
| 1:58.6 | it's finance and investing and trying to figure out all the nitty gritties |
| 2:03.3 | of improving the money side of our personal and professional lives for my wife and I, |
| 2:09.1 | and it has been an epic focus for the last six months or so. And what's really fascinating is that |
| 2:15.6 | whenever I take on a new topic, the very first thing I do is reach for a book. |
| 2:20.9 | It is always my go-to. |
