How to market EVs to rural America.

There is a new entry coming to the U.S. electric vehicle market, the Slate EV, with its somewhat

rudimentary, tonka-like truck frame.

The base model doesn't have a radio, speaker system, or power windows, and the company

behind the truck is

highlighting its simplicity and affordability. Next week, we're going to learn just how affordable

it really is when the pricing for the truck comes out. Some of Slate's marketing is geared towards

rural and working people, but the reality is that driving EVs in rural areas can still be a challenge.

What does that look like for you driving around Wyoming?

And do you have to? We laugh because here EV chargers are sometimes hours apart. It just requires a little bit more planning. It'll take a little

bit more of a detour. Even with more rural charging stations, EVs aren't always a great fit, says Robbie DeGraf with Auto Pacific.

For your blue collar workers that are depending on raising cattle or maybe harvesting things,

you're going to need an EV that does offer more capability. Battery range just isn't there yet,

but DeGraff says the slate truck is slightly edging in that direction.

People that maybe live in towns that they want to like run to the hardware store or go down
