Welcome to how to. I'm Carvel Wallace. So if you're a U.S. listener, I'm sure you, like the rest of us, have been processing the election for the past few days. And there is

always some uncertainty in this interim period when we've elected the new administration,

but they haven't yet fully assumed power. But this latest transition in the U.S. is putting

question marks on all kinds of things, including reproductive rights and contraception.

Now, the U.S. already saw the overturning of Roe versus Wade in 2022, which guaranteed access to abortion care. Now care is up to each state.

And some states upheld it last week, but 17 states still ban abortion either at all stages or after only six weeks.

Abortion bans make it harder to get many different kinds of pregnancy care. And I don't need to tell most of you that the ability to become

pregnant can pose inherent risks. So without access to care, those risks become even more pronounced.

It's a heavy burden for women and people with uteruses to bear.

And none of that is new. That has been dominating our national conversation for years.

But today, we wanted to look at this topic from a different angle.
