Hello and happy new year. What are your 2022 resolutions? Giving up chocolate, maybe a bit more exercise.

Or perhaps you're on a mission to declutter your home and potentially

make some money in the process. After all, we all feel a bit strapped for cash after Christmas.

Today on this special edition of Moneybox, we're going to look at the perks and the pitfalls

of flogging your unwanted stuff. And that includes any unwanted Christmas presents. You know the kind,

the gifts that you were so touched to receive, but quite simply don't want. Let's start by hearing

from Simon, who got in touch with a Christmas confession. I was given a Christmas present by my dad.

It was an in-car coat hanger kit, which is really handy if A, you've got a car

and B, you've got coats to hang up, and I had neither of those things. Neither did my brother, and he was

given one too, so we had a pair of in-car coat hangers. You can imagine my face, it didn't excite me.

Do I sound really ungrateful? I don't mean to sound ungrateful. And I'm ashamed to say, I check the price

of them online and then listed them online to sell them. We made £4.50 for each one. And I did

confess this to my dad later. I don't want this stuff laying around the house. And when I see things

like this, I go, yeah, this is pound signs looking back at me.
