I'm Reachartre. Let's go a round of introductions. I am sat here today with

Sherry, Livesight editor of Sheelux. Hello! Adela Boyega, makeup artist, you know,

Superstar, Queen of Glo, Queen of Globe and friend of the show as well.

So I follow everyone if you're listening or watching you know the laugh.

So we are so excited to today to talk about black beauty and in particular the lack of diversity and after a long long amount of time of neglect the industry is finally waking up.

So we're going to be discussing everything black beauty Adiola's illustrious career

product I think also tell the challenges still on the horizon to face but also I would

want to make sure we focus on black joy as well.

I think we're too easy for us to focus on all the negatives and not all the good things that are happening.

Yeah.

We're going to start with you, Adiola, as I heard, Queen of Glow.

I'm always interested in terms of how did people get started and I'm going to go back a

little bit before makeup artistry you went to Lufra I know how did you go from also such a sporty university were you on like the

lacrosse team how did you end up going to Loughborough? No sports whatsoever. It's so

funny because I was having this conversation yesterday with Millie from Blanket PR who also did the same exact

degree that I did.

I think I graduated a couple of years after her so I graduated in 2010 So I've always had a love of beauty. There's no denying it. I used to spend money that I never have actually had, whatever money that I could grab and buy glam a magazine, black beauty and there was another black magazine I think it was called pride magazine

that I used to buy back in the don't know if it's still in publication yeah and you know these are

expensive magazines and I would literally just go straight to the back of the magazine for like three or four pages that was the beauty section and just soak it all in, you know, and actually it's really crazy because I never actually looked at it and saw the lack of

diversity I was just really excited about the trend so it didn't really matter to me at the time that it wasn't on a black skin, but actually now it would have been great to see that representation.
