Summary

A special episode of the Women Who Travel podcast, presented by Lego.

There are 56 business days between now and December 31, which means you have a little less than two months to use up your remaining vacation days. Count this as your reminder to start filing those days with your manager. (We shouldn't need to remind you that you're leaving money on the table if you don't.) Not sure what to do with them? We've got a few ideas in this week's podcast, presented by Lego. This episode, we're talking with U.K.-based illustrator Nina Cosford about giving yourself permission to take days off even if you're not planning a big vacation and finding joy in the little things, like meandering walks through your own backyard. She's also got tips for picking up journaling and creating boundaries between your work life and personal life when working from home.

I'm Meredith Carey, and with me, as always, is my co-host, Molly Eric Koglu.

Hello.

0:14.0

Because of everything that's happened this year, most of us have a lot more vacation days to use up before December 31st than we usually would.

0:20.7

So this episode, we're talking all about how to make the most of our downtime. Most of us have a lot more vacation days to use up before December 31st than we usually would.

0:27.8

So this episode, we're talking all about how to make the most of our downtime when we're not going anywhere or at least anywhere far.

0:32.5

We're tapping someone who seems to have cracked the code on how to find joyful moments in everyday life.

0:37.8

Joining us today from Hastings is illustrator Nina Cosford to chat about making every moment away from our computers actually feel like a vacation. So thanks for joining us, Nina. Oh, thanks for having me.

0:43.6

So, Nina, I expect as an illustrator and as someone who works for themselves, you are pretty

0:50.7

familiar with working from home and have done so from before 2020. So I wanted to kick

0:57.9

things off by asking how you draw a line between your workspace and your personal space when

1:03.3

you're mostly operating out of the same place all the time. I like the pun there of drawing a line

1:09.5

literally and metaphorically. Yeah, it is actually something

1:14.8

that has been tricky this year working from home because I actually rent a studio and work

1:22.7

outside of where I live and I've been doing that for the past sort of eight years. So it kind of is a bit

1:31.6

like a step backwards working from home again. It reminds me of when I just graduated from

1:36.3

uni and was very much like starting out, working in my bedroom, a desk at the end of my bed,

1:43.2

everything in very close quarters. So in a way, it's kind of, a desk at the end of my bed, everything in very close quarters.

1:45.5

So in a way, it's kind of felt a bit regressive going back to that during lockdown.

1:51.4

So it's been a bit of an adjustment trying to still feel that level of professionalism,

2:00.1

but also trying to give myself a bit of a break and

2:02.5

taking that opportunity to actually slow down a bit and maybe not work at such a kind of
