Alright, we're diving into Romans chapter 13. We are looking at verses 11 through 14 today.

And the Apostle Paul starts out this section by saying, besides this, and obviously that

refers back to something he just said, and what he just said was that we are to

be living lives of love toward everyone, whether they are enemies, whether they are friends,

whether they're family, whether they're church members, we are to be living lives of love.

And then he says, besides this, you know the time that the hour has come for you to

wake from sleep for salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. So let's stop

for a second and make sure we understand what Paul's talking about. He's saying, when you first

came to faith in Christ, you received this great gracious gift from God and time began ticking.

Time has been going on. And now you are closer to the day when Jesus fulfills every promise

by returning to this earth, then you were when you became saved. That's the point he's making.

And he's saying, you need to look around you and recognize that fact and wake up if you need

to wake up. Get your mind alert, get yourself ready to understand what you need to do to live

in light of the times that you're in. Okay. He's saying, the night is far gone. The day is at hand.

This is verse 12. The night is far gone. The day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works

of darkness and put on the armor of light. See Paul is saying, when we look around us and we see

a world that's going to hell on a hand basket, so to speak, we see people suffering, we see
