Well, hello there. It's Morgan Harper-Nichols here. I'm an artist and a writer, and this is a space where I turn the lens on various topics and subjects in hopes to learn something new or see something in a new way. Today's episode is called How to Let Go and Find Freedom when someone doesn't like you. Thank you for listening.

Have you ever dealt with that uneasy feeling of someone not liking you and you don't know why?

Maybe it's someone at work or someone in the outer circle of friends.

And for whatever reason, you just feel like you and this person have this tension and you

don't know why.

You question yourself and you ask, am I doing something wrong?

Did I say something to offend them?

And you can't quite put a finger on it. And it gets even harder

if other people are around and they don't seem to have this problem. I remember once in college,

there was a friend of a friend who used to hang around my friends every once in a while. And for whatever reason, when I spoke to him

or to the group, he would look away and he would not talk to me at all. And I was so confused because I

didn't really know him very well. And it was just sort of a general conversation. And for whatever reason, he just did not want to speak to me.

And I would even watch as everyone else in the group spoke.

He would respond or listen.

And when I spoke, he would look the other way.

And I never found out why this was. I don't even remember his name,

but I remember that feeling. I remember that feeling of what have I done. I remember asking,

is it because I'm black? Is it because this, that I had no idea what it was. And I still don't know.

But at the end of the day, that feeling persists sometimes even when I don't want it to.

And I'm really interested in writing poetry and prose about these topics that maybe something bothers us, but for whatever reason, we feel like it

shouldn't, or we feel like it's not that big of a deal. So this is definitely one of those topics,

because I think that it can be a little bit strange to talk about, yeah, it bothers me that this
