He’s a certified chef with a passion for the farm-to-table movement. Learning about food systems while on the Sustainability Council at the University of British Columbia, led him to want to find the most efficient, sustainable way to grow his own food, while living in a state of "time poverty" (too many things to do and not enough time to do them) that so many of us seem to be experiencing. From this, Growoya was born! 0:17.2

you're working with the seasons of nature.

0:18.8

You have one year, one season, one try, sometimes more depending on the crop, but if you make

0:24.8

a mistake then you kind of have to wait till next season, let's say if you're growing

seeding and buying transplants and just trying to understand, I felt so overwhelmed in the

1:39.0

beginning as practical knowledge or insight to gardening, wasn't maybe as accessible as

1:49.1

what I thought it would have been.

1:53.2

So I mean, I spent a lot of time watching YouTube videos of other people who were experimenting

1:59.5

in the garden, didn't really get a lot of books, but did join a community garden, asked

2:09.7

other gardeners a lot of questions, and spent a lot of time just trying to absorb, experiment,
