0:19.9	Well, it is a new season, and it's a new semester, and so today we're starting a new series
0:25.6	on leadership. Why? Because many of you either came to this city or have stayed in D.C. because you
0:34.7	want to lead. It's interesting. I preached in New York a few weeks ago. And while I was visiting with the people at this church, I realized, man, a lot of you people are in finance. And then it struck me, oh yeah, because Wall Street is here. And then I met so many creatives. I'm like, oh yeah, because Broadway is here. When I've been to LA, there's even more creatives there. And even though it's a oversimplification, I was like, you know, there really is
0:58.1	something. I'm like, oh yeah, because Broadway is here. When I've been to L.A., there's even more creatives there.
0:54.7	And even though it's a oversimplification, I was like, you know, there really is something to
0:58.6	the stereotype of you go to New York for money, you go to L.A. for fame, and you come to D.C. for power.
1:07.6	And the truth is, money, authority, influence, these are all things that can be stewarded in a way that honors God and helps people.
1:14.9	But there are also things that can be chased and held in a way that's destructive to you and those around you.
1:21.5	And so we need to figure out how to use these things well.
1:24.3	And so I don't know what your motive is today, but I know for many of us in
1:28.2	the city, the truth is you're here because you want to drive. And there's something about
1:33.8	authority and power that's exciting. It's like dad throwing you the keys for the first time
1:38.2	and saying, you drive. There's something thrilling about that. A whole world just opened up to me.
1:43.1	I can go places. I was never able to go
1:45.2	before. I can do things that have been held back from me before. It's a thrilling thing to drive,
1:50.2	but it's also a terrifying thing. When suddenly you're behind the wheel and go, I could wreck this car.
1:56.0	I could wreck my life. I could wreck your life. You remember the first time you ever drove on a

2:02.2	how terrified you were. Driving is a thrilling thing, and it's a terrifying thing. And it's the same
