I was super excited to discover that my Dieselpunk historical mashup storming has been shortlisted as a fantasy

finalist in the forwards indie fan book of the year award. The winners won't be

announced until June, but even just being a finalist is a huge honor that I still can't keep greening about, especially since

Storming is such a weird genre fit, being neither quite historical nor quite fantasy, with its

sprinkling of diesel-punk elements in a 1920s aviation adventure setting.

At any rate, I'm just tickled pink.

The latest post on my blog is the only reason you should ever choose a protagonist.

Sometimes an author can unwittingly choose the protagonist that's wrong for the story.

I wrote my first novel when I was 14 and I had no idea when to write The End. I printed the manuscript in December 1999 just in

case Y2K crashed the world and I lost my beautiful story. This was a great

accomplishment of course I just finished writing a book.

Except, it turned out I wasn't finished.

My imagination just wouldn't stop turning.
