0:34.0	A.J. you work in Portland and Eugene, Oregon, which some people have probably called
0:40.4	the deconstruction capital of the World.
0:44.2	You therefore I think are an expert on doubt and deconstruction.
0:50.1	And so you've written this book after doubt that I found really interesting, encouraging, insightful,
0:56.8	it helped me process and questions I had.
0:59.2	So I'm really glad that you're with us today.
1:02.3	Here's a question to start with. What are some of the best
1:06.4	reasons that you've heard, the most compelling reasons that people are leaving
1:11.6	Christianity? Ah, well. that people are leaving Christianity.
1:16.9	Ah, well, can I be as honest as possible? I love honesty. You go for it.
1:18.9	Love it. I think the number one reason that I'm seeing people walk away from Christianity from my generation and younger is the syncretism of trading out authentic Jesus Christianity
1:32.8	for conservative and progressive ideologies.
1:36.5	And when I say that, I mean, people are leaving what they thought was Christianity because Christianity has been co-opted by a political party.
1:48.0	And in my opinion, when people deconstruct that, they're not actually deconstructing
