What's going on everyone? Welcome back to the podcast and today we're going to talk about a house plant. I know I've been talking about pests a lot I've been talking about hydroponic soil

Let's mix it up. Let's talk about a house plant today and specifically we're going to talk

about the prayer plant and the type of prayer plant. Can't even speak today, can I?

That I'm talking about is the Maranta Lucanura.

And again, I apologize for my Latin guys.

I don't know how to speak that dead language.

Now, Maranta, it's a wonderful plant, it's a beautiful house plant, and there are 40 or 50 different

species. Of those, the most common is going to be the Maranta Lucanura.

Lucanera, who knows, man.

I do not know why we decided to name things in Latin.

Okay, so what are some of the varieties of this house plant that we can grow?

Well of course there's that classic the Maranta Lucanura. There's also the Maranta Lucanura

Varl Lucanura which is kind of interesting. The difference between this is that it is a bluish silver color on the leaves.

It has these purple spots, it has a deep green leaf and I'm telling you the

Miranda plant has some of the most visually striking leaves of any house plant I've ever seen

and that's why I have a couple of them and I've bought them from family and friends. They

are absolutely wonderful. Now another cool variety is the Kim variety. It has sort of light green leaves and six to eight purple spots on the on

the leaf surface to the left and right of the main line of the leaf.

Now, another interesting one is Marisella.

These are lighter shade of green and they have very creamy green light markings. And then finally, before we get into how to care for these guys

we're going to talk about the Maranta Lucanura vareethroneura and this has darker green leaves with purple pattern markings.

And so then you have to wonder, well, why is it even called the prayer plant?
