What's up everyone? Welcome back to the podcast. Today we are talking about the

ultimate pollinator. The pollinator that is such a pollinator that it has a

pollinator's name in its name, B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-. So this is also known as Monarda. It's actually part of the

mint family and a lot of people grow it. Does that mean it's actually a mint?

Does it do anything more than just look pretty? Are there different

types of bee balm? And if so, what are the differences? So in today's episode, we're going to talk about some of the different

types of monarda species, look at the differences between them,

and discuss some care for both the annual and perennial types. So let's go ahead and get into it.

There are about 50 commercial cultivars

commonly available, but a ton of bee-bomb varieties

just naturally grow in the United States.

So let's look at a few of my favorites and a few of the most common ones.

So first we have Monarda Brad Buraryana, also known as Eastern Beebalm.

This is a perennial variety.

It's got rich green foliage and lightly toothed edges on these oval leaves,

so they look spiky, they don't feel spiky.

And the flower stems are slightly purple.

They're like a whitish purple, and they end up sort of with a lavender-ish type of color as well.

These flowers produce a ton of nectar and has a lot of pollinators at its flowers.

Bumblebees, hummingbirds, etc. And again, it's native to Central and Southeast United States.
