| 0:06.4 | and meaning in your life. I'm your host, of course, Graham Cochran. Let's get into it. |
| 0:16.5 | Our online course is dead. The question keeps coming up. No, not even close, but there is a shift |
| 0:24.0 | happening and if you're not paying attention, you're going to miss it. People don't just want |
| 0:29.0 | content anymore. They want connection. The online business world is evolving and those who build |
| 0:35.4 | communities over just courses are winning and will continue to win. So today I'm breaking down why communities are the future, how they supercharge your offers, and how you can ride this wave to grow your business. Let's dive in. So we're going to start by talking about the shift that's happening. I always want you to stay ahead of the curve. So real time as I'm coaching people, as I'm talking to other business owners, as I'm seeing what's happening, I'm going to always share with you what's working real time. So we're going to talk about the shift. And as you can tell from the title of this episode, I'm going to push you to communities |
| 1:11.8 | if you haven't already. And then at the back half of the show, we're going to talk about how to |
| 1:16.4 | properly think about launching your community or modifying your community or going all in on |
| 1:21.6 | your community if you already have one. So we'll make it super practical. But let's just quickly |
| 1:26.0 | just dive into the shift here. |
| 1:28.3 | So I started business in 2009 with my first brand, The Recording Revolution. I didn't even know |
| 1:35.7 | what an online course was, but I ended up learning that I could sell long form videos, |
| 1:42.6 | like three hour long video trainings, Because people love the free videos. |
| 1:46.4 | I figured they love the paid videos. And I discovered that I was selling a course, creating and |
| 1:50.6 | selling a course. And so I built the first business around two core offers, are types of offers, |
| 1:57.6 | I should say. I had a suite of courses teaching how to do this, how to do that. |
| 2:03.1 | And they were like the meat and potatoes of everything I'm teaching musicians. And then three years |
| 2:08.8 | into business, I launched my first paid community. And I ran that for about seven years. And that was |
| 2:15.6 | where people then could practice what they were learning. |
| 2:18.0 | It was a great model. So they could learn the stuff in the courses and then in the community, |
| 2:22.7 | they could practice what they were learning because we did this sort of challenge every |
| 2:25.9 | month. We were working on the same music together and we would give them songs to practice on. |
