You know, we've talked oftentimes about how this divine love story we call the Bible is not a museum piece.

And it's not some sanitized literature.

It's divine.

And yet it includes all these stories of real people with real problems who needed a real savior and real redemption.

And sometimes we talk about some of the stories in here and some of the stories in real

life that are difficult.

There's hardship.

There's heartache in there.

The living hope is Jesus.

He is a redeemer.

But we just want to let you know that this episode might not be appropriate for littles. If you've got some littles,

I wouldn't have them listen to this episode of Back Porch Theology because some of the heartache

we talk about today is just more of an adult theme. We never ever do that. And for shock value

or clickbait, we do that to point to the fact that our God can redeem and restore everything.

But I would just say today's episode, just watch it wisely.

In the literature, I came across this phrase that what we need in order to heal from trauma

is someone to bear empathetic witness. In Jesus, at the cross,

God bears empathetic witness to the suffering of the world

and the harm in his body on the cross.

He carries away expiation and sins of the world,

bearing witness to what we experience,
