Summary

From a young age, we're asked what we want to be when we grow up. Then, when we're almost all grown up and about to graduate high school, we're asked again. We feel a pressure to have it all figured out. I need to do well in my exams so that I can graduate with a great grade and get into my preferred university so I can become qualified so I can pursue my dream career so I can be happy. And while that's the path that some people will take, most of us struggle to know what we want to eat for lunch, let alone do for the rest of our lives. I'm one of those people. I've always taken life as it comes (which has thankfully worked well for me so far) and have never been one to plan too far ahead. My life purpose? No idea. Helping people feel good makes me feel good, so perhaps that's what it is, but had I not stumbled onto YouTube in 2011 I probably would have never discovered it. Most of the people in my life have no idea what their purpose is. They don't have one particular passion. If they do, they don't know what to do with it. I honestly believe it's something that 90% of us struggle with, and that's why I wanted to record this episode. I share a different take on what your 'life purpose' might be, and how you can harness that and use it to your advantage. You've probably heard the phrase the grass is always greener on the other side, but I believe it's greener where you water it. This podcast is here to provide you with meaningful advice from myself and others in order to give your little patch of grass the best chance to grow and flourish.

0:36.5	I think most people struggle with at some point in their lives.
0:41.1	Speaking from my own experience, I never really felt pulled in one way or another.
0:48.8	All throughout, you know, my childhood, high school, early adulthood. I just, I don't know, I kind of had different
0:59.6	interests that I thought, oh, maybe, you know, I could do that. You know, I was good at helping my
1:04.3	friends with their problems. And so I thought I could be a psychologist or I really, really liked
1:09.9	photography. So I thought, oh, I could be a photographer.
1:12.7	And I just kind of followed those little interests, but I never had this greater calling, like,
1:18.1	oh, I'm going to, you know, help people do this, or I'm going to sell this and I'm going to make a
1:23.7	difference this way, or this is what I'm super passionate about, and I want to make a career out of it. I've always just, I don't know, taken one step at a time and a lot of
1:35.4	people ask me like, oh, what would you be doing if you didn't, you know, take this path that you're on
1:40.4	now? And I say, I have no single idea. I have I have no clue no idea at all it's not like I was
1:47.1	you know studying to become a musician or a lawyer or a I don't know writer or anything and then you
1:54.8	know this happened and I went off on a different course like I was just taking it step by step day by
2:00.1	day and this is where I ended up.
2:02.3	So I've been really fortunate that it has, you know, this path that I'm on now has been a really
2:10.1	great one for me. And I think what I get out of this kind of career is the connection to people
2:16.8	and helping people and these kinds of platforms like
2:20.5	my podcast. I feel like that is the most fulfilling part of this whole crazy little journey that
2:26.0	has been the last 10 or so years is yeah, basically the connection to people and to helping people
