| 1:08.8 | really expensive. So let's talk about how you can find a good |
| 1:12.2 | therapist that you can afford. Now first, I know this video may not apply as well to other |
| 1:18.4 | countries as the United States where I live. So in the UK or in Canada, they have universal |
| 1:24.5 | health care and getting mental health services doesn't cost an arm and a leg there. |
| 1:29.7 | But on the downside, I mean, sometimes there are long wait lists, or it may be difficult finding a therapist that meets your needs. |
| 1:37.5 | In other countries, there may not even be mental health providers in your area, or financially they're just out of reach. |
| 1:45.2 | In the United States, some insurance covers some types of therapies, but even with insurance, I know that most |
| 1:51.3 | people end up paying a lot out of pocket, often in the realm of $100 to $150 a session, |
| 1:58.4 | which adds up to $5,000 to $8,000 if you were to attend a year of therapy. |
| 2:03.6 | So my previous insurance, when I was working for a mental health company, had a $5,000 |
| 2:08.6 | out-of-pocket deductible for mental health expenses. My current coverage, being self-employed, |
| 2:14.6 | doesn't cover any mental health at all. And then there's people who have no health insurance. |
