We have had so many requests from listeners

to have a gallaist on the show.

And I have wanted to ask you for quite a long time,

as I told you, and I've mentioned your name to Alice many times and never actually taken the plunge to ask you and this time I asked you and and for everybody listening

Silsen contemporary is a Yorkshire contemporary art gallery, a little bit unusual in the sense that it is in a home.

It's a gallery within a home and I find that a fascinating idea and Sarah founded the gallery herself runs it herself and so we're going to get into kind of her story, how she set that up, what she does there, and she's also going to have some very wise advice for all of us on what to do and not to do when approaching a gallery.

So before we begin, Sarah, as I told you before we started,

we always begin with what's been going on recently for us.

I thought what would be interesting to ask you since nobody really knows you and we're getting to know you is what does a normal week look like for you and running your gallery? What's your life normally like?

Well it's 24-7, it's always on my mind. I'm always thinking about the gallery, how it's hung,

new artists, current artists, clients, keeping in touch

with clients telling them about work that I've got in, planning you know well ahead so that there's lots of

admin to do occasionally I'll go to artist studios to look at their work or

they'll come here and show me their work. I go through submissions that come in in emails.

It's really, I'm on the go all the time. This morning I was at a client's house so I take work out to clients.
