What's up everyone? Welcome back to the Epic Gardening Podcast and you know what it would not be the Epic Gardening podcast if I did not talk about the quintessential plant for the season and that would be Poinsettias. I was at a farmers market and I met a

guy who grew a lot of different things. He owned a nursery out in the East County of

San Diego and he said that he usually makes 90% of his revenue in December

because he grows Poinsettias and he basically sits at the farmers market making little bits of cash

for the other 48 weeks of the year to make almost all of his money in September or in

December. Fascinating and that is just a testament to the popularity of Poincetias.

So with proper care, Poincetias are not only a Christmas plant.

They can retain their beauty for around two to three months.

And if you're really dedicated and you don't want to rebuy them every year,

you can actually get them to re-bloom the next year.

And so the most important thing when it comes to Poinsettias

is understanding how to fertilize them.

So to be honest, they do pretty well

with any normal all-purpose fertilizer.

You're probably going to want to use one that's water-soluble because that's going to be the easiest to apply.

But if you need to, you can also do a dry fertilizer. Water soluble one is obviously just going to be more

bioavailable quicker and will just juice up your plants a little bit faster. So when you're

going to fertilize your point,

that you just want to make sure that you water it thoroughly and that's

doubly true if you use a dry fertilizer because obviously that that fertilizer

needs to become water- water soluble via being watered. So if you don't

really want to keep the plant past the holidays honestly you don't have to
