Looking up at Cold It's Castle, it wasn't any surprise why the Nazis chose the fortress as their prisoner of war camp for the most defiant Allied prisoners.

It was perched high above a rocky outcrop with thick medieval walls of stone, built in the 12th century.

In Nazis reason that the men who had escaped other camps would have no such luck here.

But these were officers, and according to the Geneva Convention, they couldn't be put into force labor, so they had nothing but time on their hands.
