Summary
We tend to take on one of 3 modes as we head into the end of the year:
- Rush To The Finish | Goal Striving Mode
- Check Out | Vacation Mode
- Reflect, Integrate & Assess | Review & Plan Mode
That last one is my approach. I love to use these final weeks to understand what happened over the last 12 months, in all parts of life, consider what went well and why, where I stumbled and why, and how I can learn and integrate all of it into setting up the year to come to rise higher.
And, I thought I’d walk you through my process - it’s a very different take based on a model I developed a number of years ago around the key elements of living a good life I call the Good Life Buckets. Super excited to share this powerful process with you in today’s episode.

| 0:16.8 | The second one is, what was your role or part in how the year went? |
| 0:24.6 | And the third piece is, is there anything about it that you would love to see unfold differently |
| 0:32.5 | in the year to come? |
| 0:34.8 | So we tend to take one of three modes as we head into the end of any given year. |
| 0:40.8 | Rush to the finish, you know, sort of goal striving mode. |
| 0:44.4 | Let's put our heads down. |
| 0:45.4 | We had big things we wanted to do in the beginning of the year. |
| 0:48.7 | Boxes to check, you know, like things do accomplish. |
| 0:51.4 | So I'm just going to rush to the finish and try and check as many boxes as humanly |
| 0:54.9 | possible so I can sneak in as much accomplishment as I can before we turn the page. |
| 1:00.4 | That's mode number one. |
| 1:03.2 | Then there's mode number two, the checkout mode. |
| 1:06.6 | And that's why you're like, you know what, this has been a year, whatever happened, good, |
| 1:12.4 | bad, indifferent. |
| 1:14.4 | I'm done. |
| 1:15.4 | I'm cooked. |
| 1:16.4 | I am stepping away, taking a break and going on vacation. |
| 1:21.0 | End mode, equally valid. |
| 1:23.9 | And then there's that third option. |
