Summary

The goal isn’t to do easy things!

We’re doing that now.

The goal is to become the kind of person where hard things are easy things for YOU.

The power of successful people is they know where to tweak things to make them FEEL easier, more satisfying, more fun, or slip into those behaviours better than other people.

Unsuccessful people think things SHOULD feel easier, but then MAKE them harder. Successful people think things SHOULD feel hard, but then MAKE them easier.

Once we know the path to success is to conquer hard things, we need to get a clear expectation of what ‘hard’ looks like, and then make them as simple, fun, and easy as possible so we can do them forever.

In this episode, we talk about exactly how to do just that.

Hello, welcome to the Lean of Plants podcast. My name is Chelsea and if you are struggling to lose weight on a plant-based diet, then this podcast is for you. While there are thousands of books, podcasts and resources about the benefits of a plant-based diet, the reality is that being vegan does not

0:21.9

guarantee losing weight. If you are feeling frustrated and confused about where to start,

0:28.6

or you know exactly what you should be doing, but you just can't seem to rustle up enough

0:34.1

willpower to do it, then keep listening. In this podcast, you'll learn the

0:38.7

truth about plant-based weight loss, but just as importantly, how to use proven methods of

0:44.1

behavioural change to turn what you know into lifelong habits that lead to getting and staying

0:49.9

lean. Can't wait to get started. Let's do this. I'm really excited to talk about the paradox of wanting to create sustainability and your lifestyle

1:13.8

and having habits that stand the test of time while also doing really, really damn hard things.

1:20.6

And I mean, thinking about this, because a lot of people will talk about how they want things

1:27.1

to be sustainable. And quite often when they talk about how they want things to be sustainable and quite often when they

1:29.4

talk about that process and you can apply it to anything this is not just weight loss this could be

1:34.1

work it could be exercise it could be any number of things but they'll talk about wanting to

1:39.6

have an element of their lifestyle now that then gets bought into what they're going to have in the future.

1:47.6

And so we quantify sustainability by saying, well, you know what, I'm going to still be able

1:52.7

to go out to eat or I'm going to still want to have treats.

1:54.8

So I don't want to have to work out like really, really hard every single week.

1:59.1

Or I still want to have my weekends.

2:00.5

So if we're talking about business, growing a business or having a career, when we talk about

2:04.5

sustainability, we're adding in elements that we currently find comfortable and we're saying,

2:08.7

well, sustainability means that I maintain and I have some of those comfortable elements that I

2:14.2

have now. What I want to propose to you is that what sustainability

2:17.6

actually means is that we get really, really good at doing a certain set of activities and we
