Summary

Cynthia Nixon joins us this week as we consider the past and future of abortion. What does it look like to end a pregnancy when the law stands in your way? Wendy Zukerman from Science Vs tells us about a group of women in the 60s who developed their own safe abortion kit. And we hear from a Dutch doctor who’s made it her mission to distribute abortion pills in countries without access... which has meant taking to the seas, and taking on the US government. They're right. I'm your host Molly Fisher. I'm your host Molly Fisher. I'm Cynthia Nixon. I'm delighted to be talking to you.

0:21.0

Maybe you're a Cynthia Nixon fan from Sex in the City, where her character,

0:25.5

Miranda, was the one who would reliably call bullshit when the others were acting insane.

0:30.9

Or maybe you just got to know her last year when she ran a left-leaning campaign for

0:34.8

governor of New York.

1:21.8

abortion, only that it had happened.

1:24.8

So it was really important to her that she tell me and that I know this and that I carry

1:30.1

this fact about her and about our family forward, but she did not want to discuss it.

1:36.8

Cynthia has carried her mom's story forward. Now though, with abortion rights under attack,

1:42.3

she feels like she needs to be

1:43.5

direct and explicit in a way her mom wasn't able to. You're used to hearing
