Summary

Why is it so hard to disagree with someone, especially someone we’re close with? How can we have calm conversations when we disagree and not just try to change someone’s opinion? What is it about someone’s differing opinion that upsets us so much about what they believe? I felt compelled to talk about conflict & disagreement in this week's solo episode. From race to religion to politics and equal rights, how do we navigate these conversations?

0:11.9

Welcome back to Unfiltered with me, Lindsay Hughes.

0:15.3

So happy to have you guys here today.

0:17.9

I am pumped for this episode, you guys. I really like, I've been wanting to do this

0:24.6

one and I feel like now is the perfect time for an episode like this. So today we are going to be

0:31.9

talking about how to disagree with somebody, especially someone close to you and dealing with different beliefs

0:39.4

and opinions. And that shit can be hard. I think it's pretty clear. We all know that at this time

0:46.6

in our world and, you know, in the United States, especially, people's true colors are coming

0:52.6

to the forefront. We are learning more people's opinions and

0:57.0

people are being very out there about their opinions, whether we agree with them or not.

1:01.8

And so how do we accept these different beliefs and opinions? And also how do we disagree with

1:09.2

somebody that maybe, you know, we love? How do we have effective

1:13.1

disagreements? And it is something that you guys I need to work on because I am really not the

1:22.2

greatest at accepting, you know, when I might not be right and when somebody has a completely different

1:29.0

opinion than me. So that is why I wanted to do this episode because I feel like I can't be the

1:35.0

only one who has trouble, you know, disagreeing with people's differing opinions. But it is

1:40.5

such a part of being a human and it's something that we all can relate to and it's

1:44.7

something that we're all going to have to deal with, you know, not only in times like right now

1:50.7

in our world, but for our whole lives, there's going to be disagreements and awkward

1:55.2

conversations and things like that. So we're going to talk about all of that today and you guys

2:00.4

were very interactive.

2:02.0

A lot of you guys sent in voice messages, which is awesome because love being able to actually
