| 0:00.0 | Feeling blue today? |
| 0:10.0 | Hi, it's Anita Joyce here with Kelly Wilkness and this is decorating tips and tricks. |
| 0:14.0 | Today we're discussing how to decorate with blue. |
| 0:18.0 | And blue is one of the most popular colors for people to use in decor, and it is one of |
| 0:23.7 | my personal favorites. So I am so excited to be doing this episode, and thank you, Kelly, for |
| 0:29.8 | suggesting it. Isn't that strange? The girl who claims not to be a blue girl suggested this |
| 0:36.8 | episode. |
| 0:42.4 | But hey, I don't really decorate with blue, as you all know, but I wear blue. |
| 0:43.4 | I like blue. |
| 0:44.5 | I can appreciate blue. |
| 0:50.7 | And I know that 45% of males have blue as their favorite color and 35% of females. |
| 0:54.0 | Blue is very popular. And in color psychology, blue is said to promote feelings of |
| 0:58.4 | reliability, responsibility, and calm. So who can argue with that? All good ways to feel. |
| 1:05.7 | And also, there's an interesting science of blue. Do you know what the science of blue is, |
| 1:10.1 | Anita? Well, I'm not really sure what you're getting at, but let's do it. Well, when light shines on anything, |
| 1:15.8 | such as, in our case, perhaps a piece of furniture, the item absorbs every color in the spectrum, |
| 1:22.2 | except one color, which is the color that you see. And because blue has a very short wavelength, |
| 1:28.8 | therefore is the easiest color to see. So I wonder if its popularity is in that it's not only |
| 1:36.9 | calming to your emotions, but it's also just really easy for your body and your eyes to discern. |
| 1:42.2 | Lots of interesting things about blue. It is shown to lower your |
| 1:47.4 | blood pressure and their heart rate, helps with sleep because it actually neutralizes the |
| 1:54.4 | melatonin levels in your body. So it helps you get to sleep and then helps you wake up refreshed. |
