Summary

The prime minister has rejected the idea that Britain will have to choose between Brussels and Washington, but with the US president threatening the European Union and other allies with tariffs, how should Keir Starmer deal with him?

And what should he do about Donald Trump saying he wants the US to “take over” Gaza and turn it into “the Riviera of the Middle East”, which would mean resettling the almost two million Palestinians who live there.

Nick and Amol are joined by the senior Labour MP and chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee Emily Thornberry, and Raoul Ruparel who was a special advisor to Theresa May on trade and Brexit.

And he did this press conference with Bibi Netanyahu in Washington, talking about Gaza as if it was the site of his next real estate development. Well, maybe it is. And maybe it is. And, of course, his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, has got a great interest in that kind of world as well. It's worth saying that almost every regional leader, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, have issued statements saying, we're not entirely sure this is a good plan. But Bibi Netanyahu seemed to go along with it quite well. Something about being in the presence of Donald Trump makes it quite hard to disagree with Donald Trump when you're standing beside him. And that's what we're looking at. How do you deal with this guy? People tend to say you have to deal with him by going along with his plans, by agreeing with him. But this is a week in which
