0:14.7	learning what it looks like to follow Jesus by working our way through the
0:18.4	Gospel of Luke. Okay here's a modern day myth that I find increasingly irritating.
0:25.0	What I do and I think and I feel only affects me.
0:30.0	I've heard people say that more times than I can count.
0:32.0	Whatever I do, it really only affects me.
0:34.7	So I was super delighted to read about an interesting study
0:38.6	which actually measured the emotional welfare
0:41.5	of people living in a small community.
0:44.0	And here's what they discovered.
0:45.3	They found out that our emotions are actually contagious.
0:48.8	So if you're happy, the people who you're in contact with will be measurably happier.
0:53.7	And here's the really cool part. It's not just them.
0:55.9	The happiness you infected them with
0:58.1	will measurably make the people who they come into contact with even happier.
1:02.8	And it doesn't matter if you talk to those other people or not.
1:05.9	So here's the thing.
1:06.8	If you're frustrated, people within three removes of you
1:10.1	will be measurably more frustrated.
1:12.8	And social scientists, they call this a social contagion.
1:15.8	And whether or not you buy into the studies, I can tell you that as a pastor,
