One day right along in there, you know, a few different things happened, but one of the

profound things was I came home from work kind of stressed out one day.

And I came in the door and the kids were fighting.

And that kind of tipped me over.

Like, huh.

And I launched into them.

Kids, don't you know, and I'm coming home and I'm tired.

And you're fighting and you're bickering is not okay.

Give me that magazine.

They were fighting over a magazine at the dining room table.

My oldest son, ninth grade at the time, I think, or so looks up at me and just says, hey,

dad, you didn't connect first.

And I was like, oh, he's right.

But because he had permission to say that already, the back of this defiance was broken

a little bit.

And then I said, you're right, I'm sorry.

Can I have a do over?

Which for us was a big thing.

If I wasn't the kind of parent I want to be, can I have a do over?

Like we weren't the kind of people we wanted to be.

Let's do a do over.
