0:31.6	just wandered in and grabbed something that looked cool with zero
0:34.9	considerations whatsoever and then what happened it did not do that well so
0:40.0	you know surprise surprise so I thought maybe we could talk about especially when you know some of these
0:46.2	houseplains can be relatively expensive depends on your taste right and maybe if
0:50.8	you're buying sight unseen you want to make sure that you're getting something
0:54.3	that actually works for you so maybe we could talk like let's say I just I'm wandering into a nursery I want a Boston
0:59.4	Fern or something how do I know which one to get?
1:03.0	Yeah, well, yeah, your experience is not all that unique.
1:07.0	We see this all the time and part of what we try and do is just educate people to understand what the considerations even are.
1:15.0	What do I have to think about?
1:17.0	Well, if you're buying a house plant, you need to think about your home environment.
1:20.0	You need to think about is my environment, light medium light low light and a lot of people don't even know what that means and so we go on further to educate around well how might one measure the amount of light they have and so you know we're recording around
1:35.1	midday well at least on my coast and so you know the sun's up above us and you can start to
1:41.2	see shadows in the home.
1:42.8	And so if you're getting a distinct line of a shadow,
1:46.2	that means your light is quite bright.
1:47.6	If you're seeing a fuzzy line and not a lot of a shadow,
1:50.6	then your light is probably medium to low light. So that's just a very easy indication
1:55.4	of how much light do you actually have at home and therefore when you're shopping for plants are
