Hey guys, what's up and welcome back to another coffee talk. Today we've got a nice just-juice brood because today is the first ever espresso brew of coffee talk.

0:51.0

So one of the things that I actually wanted to do for 2020 is split up the coffee talk so that you guys not only know what kind of topics you're getting into before you click or before you listen.

0:59.0

But also to so that I could branch out and talk about I guess like a few more different topics or differentiating topics.

1:06.0

So today being the first ever espresso brew espresso is going to basically be anything that's just related, anything that's adulting, anything that's motivating.

1:16.0

That is all going to be topics that would fit under the espresso category.

1:21.0

Now the other three categories of coffee talks are going to be original coffee talks which are kind of like if we were sitting over a cup of coffee and having life chats together, they'll be kind of more inspirational, more personal, more just I guess general.

1:35.0

They're the ones that you've basically been listening to up until now. And then the other two brews of coffee talks are going to be decaf which is like health and wellness, environmental, staying more balanced in that kind of aspect of life.

1:48.0

And then the last one is cosmic cups and the cosmic cup or cosmic brews are going to be like more spiritual and you know like do aliens exist.

1:56.0

And I guess more of like the hypothetical questions of life.

1:59.0

So today we're starting off with an espresso shot which means we're going to be talking I guess kind of like just or just motivation.

2:06.0

We're going to be talking about how to change your habits.

2:08.0

Okay so one of the books that I'm actually reading right now I'm not finished yet but it's Atomic Habits by James Clear.

2:14.0

And he's actually the guy who I started off the quote with for today's podcast.

2:19.0

And this book has been very eye opening for me because I feel like I'm a big feeler right? I feel like I'm very right brained which means that I tend to kind of tap into my intuitive feelings and my emotions more than I tap into kind of my logical side or my more I don't know.

2:38.0

I just that's just kind of the way my cookie crumbles. So to read this book Atomic Habits it's been super eye opening in the sense of it's made me I guess more aware or just download more of the logical side of habits and instead of being like you know why am I doing this habit like what emotion is this tied to like what triggered this what did that.

2:58.0

Instead of looking at habits that way I just kind of I guess looked at habits as more of what's a good way to put it. I guess just more objectively and just been like you know what do you like this habit or do you not like it and given that answer are you going to keep it or you're going to ditch it or if there's a habit that you're not already doing and you want to introduce it into your life like basically connect it to a good why and then find a way to do so and just yeah that's been kind of the mood going into 2020 I feel like I've been further sharpening a lot.

3:27.0

Further sharpening a lot of the habits that I already had going as well as creating some new ones and in a lot of ways kind of conjoining the idea of being more logical about habits but also kind of sinking them to happier and more positive emotions so it's been an experience you know and I figured that I could sum up some of the ways that I've found has helped me change my habits whether I've been adopting new habits or trying to kick bad habits and put them all into one little espresso.

3:57.0

Coffee brew for you so with that said I'm going to jump in and just tell you guys basically the seven steps tips or whatever you want to call it that I have basically pulled together in order to allow you to change your habits and how I changed mine so first things first in order to change a habit or to adopt a habit you kind of have to know what habits you're already performing now this is kind of the fun part of the experiment because if you don't really know exactly how you're living your life which that sounds kind of weird but I guess like you know what I'm going to do is I'm going to do a little bit of the fun part of the experiment because if you don't really know exactly how you're living your life which that sounds kind of weird but I guess like

4:27.0

consciously if you're not aware of the habits that are already taking place then it's going to be really impossible to one change your life but also to two know exactly how to implement new or better habits if that's kind of what you're looking to do so kind of call this like I guess the experimental phase because if you don't already know exactly what habits you're attacking or which ones you're introducing then you kind of get to go into a little bit of a trial period where you start basically documenting things or you can create triggers for yourself to notice when you're doing something you're doing.

4:57.0

Something one really good way of doing that is actually setting alarms on your phone or if you wear any kind of like you know fitness watch you can do alarms that are on vibrate or you know a vibrate on your phone as well like if you don't want your alarm to basically like shout out in the middle of work or school then just kind of turn it on vibrate or you could make it a specific time of day like when the clock hits a certain hour or a certain time if you notice that the minute is ever at the 15 marker ends with a five then you kind of have to ask yourself you know what am I doing right now
