Summary
The beginning of the school year is a gauntlet for Andrea, who coaches teachers for a living. She needs to get to know the 52 educators she'll work with in the coming months. All of them are new faces to her. Which means she's starting from scratch. Time is tight, so Andrea is wondering how to make every interaction count. On this episode of How To!, co-host Courtney Martin brings in Marlon Styles, who has been in Andrea's shoes. As an educator and motivational speaker, Marlon is a pro at making connections. His wisdom will resonate with anyone who is looking to build trust, work together on goals, and connect in a more meaningful way with your colleagues.

Second Thought is a weekly show about pop culture. The stuff everyone's been binging, arguing about, obsessing over. Here's the thing about heated rivalry. I mean, even the most devoted swifties, I think we can agree, not our best work. We'll be hosting thoughtful conversations with culture's most important figures. Talk about genius. |

| 0:47.7 | straighter. She's like, oh, I'm so sorry. She's like, I'm just having a long day. I'm like, |
| 0:53.6 | it's okay. Welcome to how to. I'm so sorry. I think she's like, I'm just having a long day. I'm like, that's okay. |

| 1:00.1 | Think about the last time you met someone new. |
| 1:02.9 | How did it go? |
| 1:04.0 | Did the conversation flow easily or was it one of those rocky rides with awkward silences? |
| 1:09.6 | Did you actually get to know them? Now, if it's someone you may |
| 1:13.1 | never see again, the stakes are pretty low. I mean, I absolutely live for a sweet encounter with |
| 1:19.2 | a stranger, but you know, its sweetness is rooted in the fact that it's brief and largely inconsequential. |
| 1:25.4 | But the stakes are so much higher if it's a new co-worker, let alone dozens of new coworkers. |
| 1:33.3 | It was overwhelming the first few weeks of school just because I have 26 classrooms this year. |
| 1:42.3 | Meet Andrea. She's a former preschool teacher, and three years ago, |
| 1:46.7 | she transitioned from teaching kids to teaching other teachers. My role is to really connect with |
