It was in 1982 that Barry Hearn set up a sports promotional company.

He called it Matchroom.

It was named after a special room in a local snooper club.

Matrim was all about snooker back then, but then it started to cover other sports, pool, bowling, darts.

Fishing, poker, and yes you guessed it, boxing. In 1987,

Matroom promoted Frank Bruno against Joe Bugner at White Hart Lane

when legends collide.

And since then, it has promoted the very best fight in Britain.

The 90s were brilliant, but then the boxing business slowed down.

And by 2010, other sports dominated match rooms output. That was

13 years ago and now boxing once again is in control. It dominates what
