Hey, cruisers, welcome back to the pod. Today we are covering the top five things you may want to

consider if you're booking your own shore excursions. All right. So what is so important that we felt

the need to use the word must in the title of this episode.

Well, we think that booking your own excursions can be a great way to save money

and enjoy a less crowded excursion experience on a port day.

But there are some mistakes that are easy to avoid if you employ some super simple tactics and reduce the risks that

come with booking outside the cruise line. Now, even after over 30 cruises, we still employ the same

formula to minimize risk. Usually on our cruises, we book excursions on our own and with the cruise ship. So we kind of

like a combination of both. Sometimes the strategy that we use to choose which way we're going to

book makes no sense at all. Sometimes it's a little bit more tactical. For example, if we're at a

tender port and we know it's going to be a little bit more difficult to get off the ship,

maybe we want to take advantage of the priority tendering that comes with booking a ship-sponsored

excursion so we do a little combination of both but when we book on our own we're also super super

careful to pay very close attention to some details, both when we're researching the excursion

and when we're on the ship. There's extra communication that goes into making sure that you're
