And if we haven't done the work, we're often just projecting our lacks and insecurities and

0:05.4

neediness rather than our true needs and our true possibilities. When we've done the work,

0:11.3

we can actually show up much more clear. And that doesn't mean perfect. Does it mean that we

0:16.6

won't make mistakes or what we need to work through our staff? But there are gradations of that,

0:22.0

right? And so not showing up just completely traumatized and reverberating that out onto everyone

1:22.0

can relate. Born in Ethiopia and then raised in a predominantly white neighborhood in D.C.,

1:27.5

she stood out in nearly every way, an immigrant who was in her words, a black girl who loved

1:32.2

Monty Python in UB40 and explored Asian philosophy and did not go to prom. She just never believed

1:38.3

that she belonged. But rather than try to fit in, those early experiences planted the seeds of

1:45.0

exploration. In Sabine's view, we all belong to each other and to all things, whether we want to or

1:51.0

not. Our individual freedom affects absolutely everyone and everything. And our collective

1:57.6

freedom depends on each and every one of us. And she shares her deep and long exploration of

2:04.0

ancient traditions and modern creative contemplative practices that can really connect us to these
