Sometimes I think I'm a pretty good communicator, but sometimes I'm just awful.

It's really important to have good skills of communicating.

I've done lots of kind of communicating.

I've been a public speaker, I've been in sales, I've been an entrepreneur,

I've been a stand-up comedian, and I've been a podcaster but my biggest

communications have been with writing and you really always have to put yourself

in the shoes of the other person but, I just read an incredible book,

I highly recommended, called Super Communicators

by my good friend Charles Doohig.

You've previously seen him on the podcast with, Jay, what was the book, Big or Faster or

something like that? He's had a bunch of good books and he has a book called The Power of Habit.

All those books have been great, but this one just blew me away.

I invited him on the podcast, and I had a ton of questions for him,

and here he is. This isn't your average business podcast and he's not your average host.

Yeah, yeah, so I left it.

I left the Times in 2017 and with the intention of trying to figure out which

magazine I was hoping to go work with and just really have enjoyed the New Yorker like I just I love their I love the magazine I love their approach to journalism so it's been a really happy place.

I'm always curious like how often do they expect you to write a column like

those columns are very media in the New Yorker like you must spend a lot

you can't do like one a day or even one a week, but you have to spend a lot of time.

No, no, I usually spend about six months reporting and writing before something comes out.
