0:46.7	This is new for TED. This is, you know, we're known for TED Talks. Here we're going to spend an
0:52.3	hour in conversation with some of the world's
0:56.4	wisest people, because this is a moment when we need that wisdom more than ever. So we're facing
1:06.6	the pandemic that we've warned about. You know, these are extraordinary times.
1:11.7	Times will remember for the rest of our lives, I suspect.
1:15.8	And it's not like, you know, the battle is just the external battle, the battle against the
1:22.2	virus, the decisions that our leaders make.
1:25.9	There's this other battle as well that is probably equally as
1:29.8	consequential. It's a battle that's going on right inside our minds. I mean, if you're anything
1:37.1	like me, you've had this real roller coaster of emotions the last few days, weeks. This is scary. This is different. This is alarming.
1:49.0	You know, we don't know what to make of it, a lot of us.
1:52.0	And the decisions we make collectively, I think are going to be hugely consequential.
1:59.0	On one scenario, there's a chance that we can use this
2:02.7	moment to build community, to build bonds with each other, to get to know each other in different
2:09.8	ways, to spend time with people we haven't spent time with, to look for the best in each other.
2:14.7	And on another scenario of fear and anger will drive us apart.
