0:18.3

Satin, filmmaker and a farmer. You know we've been talking a lot about just farming on a small scale

0:24.8

and I think a lot of people will wonder okay well what can you actually grow that uh that

0:29.7

makes money that allows you to support yourself and I guess Josh a question for me would be is

0:34.5

it true that you know in a small scale you're growing a lot of greens you're growing a lot of

0:39.6

like baby root vegetables and it can get a little uh not basic but a very very stripped down crop

0:45.7

selection. Yeah and I think I want to preface this bigger question about profitability and small

0:53.2

scale if you can't sell it it doesn't matter what you grow. Yeah so if you're trying to make money

1:00.1

and I think that a lot of people including myself when I started I looked at people like

1:03.9

Curtis Stone and look at his model you know he had his whole his whole farm was laid out in his

1:08.3

book and on his on his YouTube videos and it was like hey if you just follow Curtis Stone's model

1:12.4

you'll make how much money on however much land well if you can't a sell it then it's not going to

1:18.7

work for the price that you need and be it may not grow in your your contacts right you know like

1:23.9

everyone is in a different area you can't necessarily grow the same density of crops or the same

1:28.4

styles of crops uh where you are so those are things you have to keep in mind but generally speaking

1:35.2

if you're on a small scale and you're trying to make a lot of money you need to grow a lot of high

1:40.4

value crops that grow very quickly and I think that's really I mean it's kind of a no-brainer it's

1:45.4

kind of common sense right like grow stuff that is expensive and grows quickly and then you'll be

1:50.3

successful and I think a lot of people also start with micro greens because investment is very small

1:55.6

and it's very easy to scale you can actually do it in a garage or a basement spare bedroom

2:01.3

if you want to grow under lights and I made the decision to not grow micro greens last year

2:07.0

in this year and for a few reasons but they can be extremely profitable that's one way but yeah I
