Okay, so Jonathan Cooper-Smith is the chair of musical studies at the Curtis Institute

of Music, which is one of the leading institutes for music, if not the leading institute.

Actually, I think they're called conservatories, but whatever the language is, top notch, and

the students that attend there are world-class musicians who are always looking to refine and

get better and are operating at a very high level of performance.

And each year, as part of the MAT program, the Masters of Applied Positive Psychology

program that I teach at UPEN, we have Jonathan Cooper-Smith come in when we're talking

about music and the humanities and their relationship to well-being.

And recently, when talking about goals and intentionality, he mentioned that all Curtis

students are trained to ask a very specific question before opening their instrument each

And that question is, what am I working on and why?

So before you even open up your instrument, you ask this question.

And there was something about that that really stood out to me, the simplicity of it.
