It's National Teachers day to day, so let's all take a moment to thank the teachers in our lives

the show today. I'm Dr. Laurie Santos. I'm professor of psychology at Yale University and host

of the Happiness Lab podcast. Professor Santos is extremely popular on campus. I teach a class called

Psychology in the Good Life, which is a class all about the science of well-being, and it recently

had the distinction of becoming the largest class ever in Yale's 300-plus year history. What does

that mean? You got a lot of students on your waiting list? It meant that we had over a thousand

students actually taking the class. We ended up teaching the class inside a concert hall,

which was a little surreal. I think it shows that college students today really want to think more

about what they could do to feel happier. They don't like this culture of mental health crisis

that many of them are experiencing, and I think they want evidence-based solutions for things they

could do to feel better. This class has transcended Yale University. I mean, I'm in a text chain,
