| 0:19.5 | congregation. One of my favorites comes from the Book of Numbers. |
| 0:24.1 | It says, may the Lord bless you and keep you. |
| 0:26.7 | The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. |
| 0:30.3 | The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. |
| 0:34.0 | As we see in scripture, the Lord loves to bless his people. |
| 0:38.0 | His presence reminds us of his power. |
| 0:41.0 | His blessings communicate his desire for us to know the wholeness and |
| 0:45.7 | abundance that comes from living for him. I'm not quite sure what would happen to the |
| 0:51.9 | modern day church if our pastor stood up and |
| 0:54.8 | started talking to the crowd about curses. But that's what happened between Moses and |
| 1:00.3 | the Israelites toward the end of his sermon in Deuteronomy. |
| 1:03.4 | See after Moses called them to obedience and described the blessings of life |
| 1:08.2 | with God, he told them what life would be like if they chose to live separate from God. |
| 1:15.4 | He warned them what would happen if they didn't obey God's law, and it was horrifying. |
| 1:21.5 | If they refused God, they would be cursed, defeated, afflicted, enslaved, and exiled. |
| 1:27.0 | It's pretty depressing to read this long list of tragedies in Deuteronomy |
| 1:32.0 | because Israel faced all of them at one time or another. |
| 1:35.7 | Children were born into scarcity and exile and innocent people suffered for the disobedience of others. |
| 1:46.0 | And what's the reason for all of this? Well one first in the chapter sums it up from Deuteronomy 28 verse 47 it says because |
