A lot of people found themselves in leadership positions without ever being taught leadership.

They earned their position because they were an excellent producer.

And a way of recognizing and appreciating that person's great achievements is to give

them a position of leadership.

Or they were a great entrepreneur or salesperson and wanted to build a company.

And so they needed to hire a bunch of employees now that put in a position of leadership.

But they never learned leadership.

So there's what's called the producers syndrome.

And I suffered this consequence myself.

So I've mentioned that I was raised by a tough university football coach father and he

gave me the discipline and the grit and the will to become a great producer.

So when I sold environmental products door to door or I sold real estate, I could rely on

me to be a great producer and I became successful as a producer.

And then when I started my media companies, now I needed a lot of other people to do the

producing, to do the work necessary to pull off the bigger enterprises goals.

And I quickly and painfully realized that I had a problem.

And the problem was is that I didn't know how to lead.

I realized that people were different than me.

That they thought differently, they communicated differently and they were motivated by different
