Welcome to the Sports Motivation podcast. This is your host, Nees Showbo. This is a special episode,

0:06.7

Wednesday episode called Books and Bars. It's where I break down books. I take excerpts from

0:12.5

books that I'm reading. I read a ton and I like to share it with you all. And also bars from

0:17.2

my favorite rap songs. I listen to a lot of hip-hop music and I love to share with you guys the wisdom and the insight and the knowledge that I get from that as well because there's

0:25.6

a ton in it. So today I'm going to break down a book and it's a national bestseller. It's by

0:29.9

me a ham. Now, I'm not a huge soccer person. I played soccer growing up. It is not a sports

0:35.8

that I play anymore, obviously. I was a football player. But Mia Hamm

0:42.8

happens to be one of the greatest that ever did it. So she's broken nearly every record in

0:46.9

women's soccer. I think you could probably call her something like the Michael Jordan

0:51.6

of women's soccer. Correct me if I'm wrong. She's a beast

0:55.6

though, all right? She is a beast very well respected. She has her own building on the Nike

0:59.9

campus. That should say a little something about her as well. But anyway, her book is called Go for the

1:04.3

goal. And it's a pretty good book. About halfway through, she starts getting into more specific

1:09.6

tactical soccer drills. So for those of you who play

1:13.2

soccer, this is an incredible book for you to read. But either way, whenever you have one of the

1:19.8

greatest that ever did it and they wrote a book, I got to read it because I got to know how they

1:24.1

think. So I'm going to read a part right here and I'm going to explain why this is so important. But listen to Mia Hamm. This is her words. She says, you have to step on

1:31.9

the field thinking I'm gonna make an impact today as opposed to thinking, Mia, whatever you do,

1:36.8

please don't give the ball away. You have to be convinced that you're going to win every 50-50

1:41.0

ball. Run yourself into the ground, still sprint some more, and finish your

1:45.3

chances with authority. She says, but even if you play with confidence, how will you react when it

1:50.3

seems as a fate, the referee or your left foot are conspiring against you? Or you've dominated a team
