Hi, thanks for having me.

0:44.4

So Adam, you, you are the, uh, the FNG, you're the new guy at SAF F and the FNG at SAF, um, so

0:56.6

you know, you, you figured out where the bathroom is and, and how to get around the office and, and all that stuff.

1:04.5

Tell us, I mean, people are probably familiar with Alan Gottlieb.

1:08.7

He started Second Amendment Foundation.

1:10.8

He's, he's the smart guy that wears a bow tie a bunch, um, but probably going, who is this guy and what's his background?

1:20.2

And now you're, what's your, what's your actual title over there?

1:24.9

Yeah, so, uh, I am the executive director of the Second Amendment Foundation, I started the first in November of last year, so, uh, I'm not the newest guy anymore.

1:37.0

There's been two other, two other people that are after me, so that's what you do. You hire more people, and now you're not going to do that.

1:43.0

Yes, I'm no longer the, the new guy per se, uh, I have located the bathrooms, uh, several that are in the, in the office there, um, but my, my background is, you know, on the, for the

1:53.9

individuals that don't know me, I'm a lawyer, I started practicing while back in 2014, uh, and I was in private practice for five years, and during those five years, my entire practice revolved around firearms, um, specifically both individual and industry related matters, so for individuals, we do things like gun trust and advising people whether they were prohibited and some rights restoration things, um, and then industry, you know, everything from ATF compliance to determination letters to FFL revocation hearings and, uh, really

2:23.9

anything else that industry, uh, needed both FFLs that were kind of local as well, some major manufacturers, um, and it was during that time that I worked as outside counsel for another gun rights group, uh, where, uh, the summer of 2019, I left to go work there for, and I was there for about three years started as the director of legal strategy and I left as the vice president of programs and, uh, now I'm here.

2:49.3

So, so I mean, you, you went into law, you, you finished law school, did all that stuff, and then went into practice, specifically about guns, that's a very specialized niche, I mean, I'm assuming that you were a gun guy before you were a lawyer, what's your background there?

3:07.6

Yeah, so I, uh, learned to shoot guns and actually Boy Scouts, um, I grew up in a house that didn't have guns, and it was down at Camp Horseshoe, where I, um,

3:17.9

was shot, uh, 22's ever Marlins, I forget what model they were, but they had the peep sites on them, so they're all iron sites old stuff, and I can remember the first time shooting one of those, I just had the stupid grin that was plastered to my face, and I, that grins really never left.

3:31.0

Um, and so I can remember from there buying tickets to shoot shotgun after hours, they would host a thing where you could go and shoot some, uh, more or less trap, uh, or, uh, from a trap station, um, and I can remember, I must have been like 12 years old, I can remember buying that ticket, and I was so terrified of shooting a shotgun the first time I was going to have a lot of kick back, and I remember, um, standing there, and screaming pull, and just immediately pulling.

4:01.0

The trigger and the two things happened one that wasn't nearly as bad as I had led myself to believe, and the second thing was the range safety officer said, you know, you have to aim when you, when you're shooting.
