This week, Tainise and I are going to be talking about getting the love you want for the holidays.

You know, I think when you reach a certain age it's not so much about

things that you want over the holiday. I mean how many more candles or I don't know

slippers do you really need under the tree at some point it's really more about

just enjoying the holiday season and learning to love yourself and focus on the love you have around you.

But I think that also invites a lot of problems and conflict as well. So we thought we would talk this hour about how to really know what kind of love you need and want and then how to go out in the world and ask for it.

A lot of the research we did for this show kept leading us back to the five love languages and I thought we could start off there Denise does that sound good?

It's really good. It's based on a book by Gary Chapman and he talks about how there are five ways

that you can give and receive love and it's really important to recognize which of the

five love languages you have. Now when this first this when this book first came out I was like oh please give me a break were you Denise I was and I remember looking at it years and years ago because it's from the 90s. It's not a new book.

And what's interesting is he started this book

as a very Christian-based marriage counseling.

Well, he realized that it had more application

to then rather than just marriage counseling

and that as people identify what they're able to, what they need, but also what their partner

may need, that's going to help any relationships, whether it's love,

whether it's friendship, whether it's family.

And his whole premise is that you know your love language, but it's more about knowing your partner's love language so that you can make sure that you're able to meet
