0:59.6	away is you stare at this magnificent building, this magnificent dome, we're in line,
1:05.4	we're just anxious to go inside,
1:07.8	but you may wonder what is this big thing
1:10.2	right in the middle of the square,
1:11.8	this Egyptian obelisk.
1:14.0	Why would we have an Egyptian obelisk,
1:17.4	a sign associated with Egyptian paganism?
1:20.3	Why would the Catholic church have an obelisk in the middle of its most principal church in the world?
1:27.5	That's a great question, isn't it?
1:29.5	I want to, let me tell you about this obelisk.
1:31.5	This obelisk actually used to be to the side, to the left side of St.
1:34.8	Peter's, and it was in the middle of Nero's circus. So the Romans brought back many artifacts from
