Summary

In this week's podcast we do our best to explain how tipping works on a cruise ship. Tipping on a cruise can be a confusing thing.  Complicating the issue is the fact that most cruise lines have gratuities, or service charges automatically added to your account, and yet there are instances where additional gratuities would be appropriate, and even expected.

As always, you can email us your questions at [email protected]. We'd also LOVE if you'd leave a review where you listen to this podcast, and screen shot the show and share it on Instagram using the hashtag #cttvunplugged.

Hey cruisers, thanks so much for joining us today and welcome back to the podcast. We are here to talk all about tipping today. Tipping is so confusing for new cruisers, probably because it goes by at least three different names, right? You've got tipping, service charges, gratuities. We're just really not out

to confuse everybody here, folks. We're actually going to try to demystify this topic a little bit

today and give folks some answers. I wanted to let everybody know that this, of course,

1:06.5

as it always is, was a subscriber-inspired episode. We actually did not have this topic planned for the

podcast at all, but I know that when I receive two emails or two requests for one topic in the same

1:21.6

week that people are feeling the pain and they have a lot of questions. So I got an email from

Tracy Laws who said, hey, Sherry and

1:29.2

Mr. Cruise Sips TV, we're leaving for a cruise in five days, and the cruise we booked includes

gratuities. Tracy said, I don't travel very much. I don't know how to tip everybody. Who do I need to

1:40.2

tip? Who do I tip extra? What's going on here? So we're going to talk all about ports,

excursions, and all of those little things that can be very confusing if you're a new cruiser.

We also got the same request for this episode from, I don't know the person's name, but it's

Marth S-84 on Instagram. And she said, she or he said said, hey Sherry, could you do a talk a little bit

about tipping in a video? I'm sure you have many international followers who are not used to

tipping in the U.S. And then she put her country flag. I do not, Martha's, recognize your country
