Summary

In this episode of the Cold-Case Christianity Broadcast, J. Warner Wallace continues his six part mini-series summarizing material from his book, God’s Crime Scene: A Cold-Case Detective Investigates the Evidence For A Divinely Created Universe. J. Warner describes two pieces of “mental” evidence: consciousness and our common experience of free agency. Can these two pieces of evidence “inside the room” of the universe be explained by staying “inside the room”? This simple question helps homicide detectives determine if a death scene is a crime scene. Could the same question be applied to the evidence in the universe to determine if a cosmic “intruder” is the most reasonable inference?

As you know, if you've been watching our show over the last few weeks, we are talking

about eight pieces of evidence in the universe and asking

the question. Can naturalism explain these eight pieces of evidence? Can I get an explanation

for these? Can these eight pieces of evidence get in the room of the universe, you know, kind

of looking at it as a crime scene? Can these eight pieces of evidence get in the room

Or is it more reasonable to step outside the room for an explanation?

1:07.0

This is exactly how we look at death scenes. We ask the question, can I explain everything in the room by staying in the room? If I can, it's probably not a murder. On the other hand, if I have to go outside the room for an explanation of some piece of evidence inside the room, there's a good chance that I've got an intruder who came in the room to deposit that piece of evidence, and then I've got to shift my investigation toward the reasonable inference of a murder. Now if that's the case, could we apply such a technique

to the universe itself? We've done that over the past few weeks and if you're kind of catching
